Bangor International Airport takes the hassle out of getting to your flight. We’re conveniently located right off of Interstate 95 near the center of Bangor.
Directions to the airport from:
- Bar Harbor Region
- Calais/Eastport/Machias areas
- Midcoast Region (Rockland, Camden & Belfast)
- North on Interstate 95
- South on Interstate 95
- West on Route 9
How to get from the airport to:
- Bar Harbor, Mt. Desert Island, and Acadia National Park
- Baxter State Park and Mount Katahdin
- Camden, Rockport, or Rockland
- Searsport, Belfast, Lincolnville, Waldoboro, Damariscotta, Wiscasset, Bath, and Brunswick
Oversized Vehicles
There is an enclosed walkway connecting the airport to the Bangor Aviator hotel. Vehicles proceeding around the terminal pass under this walkway, which has a vertical clearance limited to 13 feet, six inches.
Directions from Bar Harbor Region to BGR:
Leave Mount Desert Island on Route 3 and head to Ellsworth. Once in Ellsworth continue straight through on Route 1A. On the outskirts of Brewer take I-395 westbound and cross the Penobscot River on the Veteran’s Memorial Bridge. Look for signs for the Bangor International Airport/Northbound I-95 and take Exit 1B North on I-95. Proceed northbound less than 2 miles and take Exit 184, turning left off the exit ramp at the light onto Union Street.
Proceed west approximately one mile, through six (6) sets of lights (counting the light on the ramp), taking another left at the sixth (6th) set of lights up Godfrey Boulevard.
The airport terminals and the Bangor Aviator hotel will be in front of you, as well as long and short-term parking, and rental car returns.
Directions from Calais / Eastport / Machias areas to BGR:
You have two choices from this region. If you are further Down East, such as in the Eastport and Calais region, you may want to connect to Route 9 from Routes 1 or 214 and continue to the Bangor area on Route 9 westbound.
If you are in the Hancock to Machias region, you may want to go down the coast on Route 1 to the Ellsworth area before continuing on to the Bangor area. If you are journeying to Bangor on Route 9, continue westbound until you reach Brewer. Route 9 conveniently turns into North Main Street. Go through the State Street intersection. In approximately one-quarter mile you will reach another intersection. Go right on Route 9 across the Chamberlain Bridge into Bangor. This turns into Route 222/Union Street. Continue westbound on Union Street. Cross over I-95.
Proceed northwest on Union Street for another mile. From the I-95 overpass, you will go through six (6) sets of lights. At the sixth (6th) set of lights, you will see the Bangor International Airport sign; take a left onto Godfrey Boulevard. Godfrey Boulevard runs straight up to the passenger terminals, passing long and short-term parking, as well as rental car returns.
If you are transiting from Down East back down Route 1, please take Route 1 westbound towards Bangor from Ellsworth. On the outskirts of Brewer take I-395 westbound and cross the Penobscot River on the Veteran’s Memorial Bridge. Look for signs for the Bangor International Airport/Northbound I-95 and take Exit 1B North on I-95. Proceed northbound less than 2 miles and take Exit 184, turning left at the light, off the exit ramp onto Union Street.
Proceed up Union Street through five (5) more lighted intersections and at the fifth (5th) light, take another left up Godfrey Boulevard. This takes you straight up to the Bangor International Airport. You will see the long and short-term parking and the Bangor Aviator hotel on your left and both terminals in front of you.
Directions from Midcoast Region (Rockland, Camden and Belfast) to BGR:
From the Midcoast Region head up the coast on Route 1. Shortly after Belfast take Route 1A. Continue on Route 1A through Prospect, Frankfort, Winterport and Hampden.
Alternative #1
Once in Hampden, take a left onto Route 9/Western Avenue and then go right on Route 202, which intersects less than one-half mile down the road. Continue northbound on Route 202, which eventually circles around and joins into I-395.
Alternative #2
Route 1A will parallel the Penobscot River coming out of Hampden and into Bangor. Once in Bangor you will see clearly marked signs for I-395. You want to go west on 395, which connects with South and Northbound I-95.
In Either Event…
Once on 395, look for signs for the Bangor International Airport/Northbound I-95 and take Exit 1B North on I-95. Proceed northbound less than 2 miles and take Exit 184, turning left off the exit ramp at the lights onto Union Street.
Proceed from ramp up Union Street through six (6) sets of lights, taking another left at the sixth (6th) set of lights up Godfrey Boulevard. This will take you directly to the passenger terminal.
The Bangor Aviator hotel will be visible on your left, as well as the long and short term parking, and rental car returns.
Directions from North on Interstate 95 to BGR:
If you are coming to the Bangor International Airport from the North on Interstate 95 take Exit 184 (Union Street). Follow the signs for the Bangor International Airport. Go right off the exit ramp at the lights, onto Union Street. Proceed northwest on Union Street through five (5) sets of lights. Take a left up Godfrey Blvd. at the fifth (5th) set of lights. Godfrey Boulevard runs straight up to the passenger terminals, passing long and short-term parking, as well as rental car returns.
Directions from South on Interstate 95 to BGR:
If you are coming to Bangor International Airport from the South on Interstate 95, take Exit 184 (Union Street). Follow the signs for the airport. Go left off the exit ramp at the light onto Union Street.
Proceed approximately one mile west on Union Street going through six (6) sets of lights (including the ramp light). Take a left at the sixth (6th) set of lights, up Godfrey Boulevard. Godfrey Boulevard goes straight into the passenger terminal area, passing long and short term parking, as well as rental car returns on the way around the terminal.
Directions from West on Route 2 to BGR:
If you are coming to the airport from the South on Route 2, you will want to take a left at the lights located at the intersection of Route 2/100 and the Odlin Road. The Bangor Grande Hotel will be on your left at the intersection. Go straight through the lights at the intersection of Hammond Street and Maine Avenue. Odlin Road turns into Maine Avenue at the lights. Less than three quarters of a mile on Maine Avenue the road forks to the left and continues around the GE Power Plant. In another half-mile Maine Avenue intersects with Godfrey Boulevard.
There is a set of lights at the intersection. Godfrey Boulevard has two parallel lanes of travel. The airport terminals and the Bangor Aviator hotel will be visible on your left. Please go left onto Godfrey Boulevard. Godfrey Boulevard continues into the passenger terminal area, passing long and short term parking, as well as rental car returns.
How to get to Bar Harbor, Mt. Desert Island, and Acadia National Park from Bangor:
Bar Harbor, which features Acadia National Park, is one of Maine’s biggest attractions. Once you are on the ground at Bangor you have several options. If you are staying in Maine for a while, you may prefer a rental car. Rental cars offer a tremendous amount of flexibility and competitive daily and weekly rates are offered.
