2025 a time for opportunity and growth at Bangor International Airport (BGR)

Runway Project a Success
We are happy to announce that after two summers of construction, Runway 15-33 at Bangor International Airport opened at full length at midday on September 10th.
While there is still a brief punch list of work to be completed, all 11,440 feet of the runway has been successfully redone and are open for business. The first aircraft to use the freshly rehabilitated runway at full length was from Bangor’s very own 101st Air Refueling Wing.
The support and collaboration of our employees, contractors, partners and stakeholders throughout this more than $45 million project have been invaluable, and we truly appreciate everyone’s work to complete this major infrastructure improvement.
Support All Around
This project wouldn’t be possible without the incredible support from our partners and the community:
- Federal Aviation Administration (FAA): Contributing $27.4 million.
- Maine Air National Guard (MEANG): Providing $16.4 million.
- Maine Department of Transportation (Maine DOT) and Bangor International Airport: Each offering $1.5 million.
To accommodate increased passenger volumes, the Terminal Connector Project remains our priority and exterior infrastructure work is now underway. This $14.5 million project will enhance passenger experience, increase capacity and provide a new holdroom for passengers.
October 1: Devoe Construction reached another milestone this morning with the pouring of most of the Connector floor. Next up, setting of electrical equipment in preparation for pulling wire to and from generator. The new generator that will provide service to the terminal is expected to be craned into position later this week.

As we work to replace our aging passenger boarding bridges, work has begun at Gate 11. This project will enhance our ability to accommodate current demand and support future growth.
