BGR Marketing Manager Risteen Bahr has retired following a successful 10-year tenure spearheading the airport’s marketing and communications outreach program.
Her retirement brings to an end more than 30 years’ full-time employment, much of it helping to promote State travel and tourism, for which her efforts were recognized in 2012 when she received the Maine Governor’s Tourism Award for Commitment to the Community. More recently she was elected Chair of the Maine Tourism Association and named the Individual Achievement award winner in the Greater Bangor Convention and Visitors Bureau’s Tourism and Hospitality Eagle Organization, The Maine Highlands Regional Tourism Organization for Penobscot and Piscataquis Counties and the Greater Bangor Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Risteen will be passing on some of this extensive experience to the next generation, having been appointed an adjunct professor in marketing at Maine Maritime Academy in Castine, Maine.
Commenting on her retirement Airport Director Tony Caruso said: “Risteen helped build and shape the Bangor International brand to what you see and experience today. Through her expert guidance and tireless effort, the BGR brand was taken to a higher level. From all of us here, we are appreciative of her work and dedicated service, and wish her a happy retirement.”
