American Airlines has announced it is increasing its summer service from Bangor International Airport to Charlotte-Douglas International to daily service starting June 7th operating through November 3rd. Last summer American operated the flight on Saturdays only. American is also adding Saturday service to Chicago June 7th through November 3rd and is bringing back its LaGuardia weekend service from June 7th to Labor Day.
Tony Caruso, Airport Director commented, “BGR is very excited about American’s expansion to daily service to Charlotte for next summer and fall. The addition of Saturday service to Chicago will give the airport additional service for the summer and fall travelers also. This past summer’s service to Charlotte was very successful so the expansion to daily service makes a lot of sense.” Mr. Caruso went on to say that this service will be on a CRJ-700 with two classes of service. Flights to Charlotte will depart BGR at 4:25 pm and arrive in Charlotte at 7:20 pm. Chicago flights will leave Bangor at 1:35 pm and arrive in Chicago at 3:55 pm. American is also bring back its weekend LaGuardia service from June 3rd through Labor Day which was also very popular this past summer. The increase in capacity gives summer and fall travelers more options and seat availability to and from Bangor that supports the very important Maine tourism industry.
American Airlines also flies to Philadelphia and Washington, DC from Bangor International and is the airport’s largest carrier transporting 46% of BGR passengers on average.
Reservations for the new service can be made on American’s website at www.aa.com or by contacting your local travel agent.
